Dibé Nitsaa Sheep & Wool Days Schedule
May 15, 2008 T’iis Nazbas Community School Conference Room 10 am to 12 noon Dine Policy Institute special presentation for the Sheep & Wool Days on May 15 or 16 2008, will address some of these issues as part of our overview of intellectual property: 1) What is Intellectual Property? How does that concept translate into the Navajo notion of property? 2) What are the common issues affecting the Navajo rug weavers and other artists? 3) What are the measures of protection? What can we do as the Navajo people to protect our traditional property rights? It is also important to address how economic orientation affects notions of property in the traditional and modern setting. We need to understand types of Indigenous Property, again in the traditional and modern day context. We are open to comments and questions by the audience. I hope this is sufficient information for a presentation to the Navajo rug weavers and others interested individuals. The presentation is open to both Navajo and non-Navajo audience. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact me. Thank you.

November 9, 2007 to January 2008
Churro Lamb Arrived in early November. The good news is that on November 9th it will be on the menu. I have secured 16 lambs from Roy Kady. I serve it as a three-way sampler so you can experience its flavors and texture in different ways. The neck bones, shanks and ribs I cook in a posole with red chile broth, hominy corn and spices. The leg and shoulder are braised with green chilies, green onion, tomatillo and cilantro then served over sweet corn tamale. Last but not least the chops are grilled and served on a salad of arugula then topped with a fresh tomato pico de gallo. It is a robust dish as the nights cool off up here in the high dessert. One you should not miss. From Chef John Sharpe The Turquoise Room, Winslow, AZ. http://www.theturquoiseroom.net/index.html
